About the Event
Join us next week at the library for our discussion with Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy, author of the recently published In the Centennial Footsteps of the Great War – from Sarajevo to Versailles („A nagy háború százéves nyomában – Szarajevótól Trianonig”). This two-volume work offers a unique and novel perspective on the First World War, the history of which has been covered by a vast number of books and documentaries, but never quite like this. During his extensive research, Szalay-Berzeviczy – an economist as well as a photographer – took 1700 photos on 5 continents and 57 countries, bringing the scenes of the battles of the war closer to the reader. Through the fascinating details and captivating images we can learn more about the event that shaped the course of the 20th century, and perhaps have a better understanding of how fragile peace is.
