About the Event
Photography, History, and Stories: Kertész, Stillman and Others.
Andrew Szegedy-Maszak, Professor of Classical Studies at Wesleyan University, CT is going to talk about his long entanglement with photography, from his early experiences as a collector (and his friendship with Kertész) to later work as a historian and scholar, with special attention to a remarkable American named William James Stillman.
Interesting fact: James Stillman fell under the spell of Kossuth and had a brief, inglorious adventure as a would-be spy for Kossuth in Vienna.
If you're interested in photography, this is for you!
The event will be in English.
