About the Event
George Szirtes – Budapest-born, England-based poet and translator – is one of the most important English-language interpreters of Hungarian literature, having brought the works of Kosztolányi, Márai, Szabó, Karinthy, and 2025 Nobel laureate László Krasznahorkai to English-speaking readers. A T.S. Eliot Prize winner and recipient of the 2024 King's Gold Medal for Poetry, Szirtes will discuss his poetry, his relationship to both languages, and the art of literary translation.
